The position is at the division of Marine Technology, well recognized internationally for our fundamental and applied research to enable the development and improvement of marine technology, such as ships, subsea systems and renewable energy solutions. We support industry and societies world-wide with knowledge, understanding and solutions that minimize emissions from shipping, improve the lifetime and reduce maintenance need for equipment in the harsh ocean environment, and ensure safe operations.

Our activities are related primarily to development and application of numerical modelling, e.g. CFD, FEA, FSI, optimization, ML, but we are also involved in both experiments and real life monitoring to support our findings. The division works closely with the shipping industry in Sweden, research institutes and manufacturers. We host the Kongsberg University Technology Centre in Computational Hydrodynamics since 2002 (previously within the Rolls-Royce group) where both long-term strategic research as well as industrial method development are performed in close collaboration with the engineers at the company. Utilisation and industrial impact of the research are key to this successful long-term cooperation.

The research at the Division of Vehicle Safety investigates why and how often accidents and incidents occur, driver reactions in different traffic situations, and how injuries occur. The Injury Prevention (IP) group is responsible for investigating the injury mechanisms at the micro- to macroscopic levels as well as the dynamic response of the whole human body to externally applied mechanical loads. In 2009, the IP group initiated research activities in the field of Human Body Modelling (HBM) in close collaboration with the industry and SAFER – The Vehicle and Traffic Safety Center at Chalmers. Today, the research at IP mainly focus on the development of HBMs representative of the entire population that can predict the risk of all types of injuries in traditional as well as in novel seating positions. This research is carried out in close collaboration with the Swedish vehicle industry, other Universities, research institutes, government agencies, and insurance companies.

The Communication Systems Group employs around 45 people, including 8 faculty and 25 PhD students, and is active in a wide range of topics in digital communication. These include 6G wireless systems, hardware-constrained communication, localization and sensing, vehicular communications, fiber-optical communication, and distributed information systems.

In this research environment, a postdoctoral researcher will be recruited to perform world-class research on physical layer security in 6G mobile networks with a special focus on classification, identification and mitigation of attacks at physical layer in D-MIMO systems. We are seeking a postdoc to optimize compilation of programs that are to be run on our quantum computers. Improving the compilation of abstract quantum algorithms into hardware-specific instructions is crucial to make quantum computers useful. The work in this project is about exploring and improving methods for one or more parts of the compilation problem, e.g., to map logical qubits in a hardware-agnostic quantum algorithm to physical qubits in specific quantum-computing hardware, to insert a minimum number of extra operations to connect qubits that need to interact but are not nearest neighbours after the initial mapping, or to compress the resulting quantum circuit as much as possible. One tool for tackling all these problems is machine learning; we have already begun to develop such a framework in the research group. An important part of the research will be to use information about the quality of qubits and gates on realistic noisy quantum hardware in the optimization, and finding the best performance metrics to optimize for.

In this project, we plan to combine AI-driven telemonitoring with specialized home care to improve management of heart failure patients. Using AI, we aim to develop a predictive model identifying advanced HF patients at high mortality risk within a year. Additionally, we plan an intuitive interface, utilizing large language models to communicate predictive outcomes to healthcaregivers. Our goal is to provide cost-efficient, safe, and effective home care for advanced HF patients, tailored to individual patient needs.

This project is a close collaboration between the AIXLab@Chalmers and Sahlgrenska University Hospital. At the AIXLab, our primary objective is to develop technical solutions that enhance the usability of AI. As part of several research areas which have been launched and developed, we take the next steps to further develop high-resolution and multi-material sinter-based additive manufacturing. Today, the AM group at the division is among the largest groups in AM across Europe with senior researchers, post-docs and PhD students. Recently, the group was granted funding through WISE (Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability) to develop sustainable multi-material additive manufacturing WISE Research Technology Platform withing WISE Additive. Hence, there are recent state-of-the-art installations at PMAM enabling multi-material ceramic/ceramic as well metal/ceramic printing (CeraFab Multi 2M30 from Lithoz GmbH) that will be exploited in the intended post-doc project.

Quantum networks are poised to surpass classical networks in terms of computing power and security. As a critical component of classical networks, the flexible optical fiber communication network must adapt to facilitate the transition to new communication and computing paradigms by connecting quantum processors in a networked configuration. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic research group at Chalmers University of Technology. As a key member of our organic electronics team, you will focus on electrochemical doping and wearable electronics. Your primary goal will be to investigate how the mechanical properties of conjugated polymers change during electrochemical oxidation/reduction cycles and develop wearable electronic devices that leverage these changes, such as variations in stiffness or stretchability. The research in Yang group focuses on covalent organic frameworks (COFs). By combining chemistry and engineering strategies, we develop COF membranes with versatile built-in nanochannels for various transporting abilities. By studying mixed transport dynamics in COF membranes, controlled co-diffusion processes are realized to serve (bio-)electronic applications.

The aim of this position is to develop electroactive COF membranes for the application of electronic devices, e.g. electrochemical transistors. You are expected to synthesize the electroactive building blocks, fabricate highly continuous COF membranes, as well as participate in collaboration of device study with collaborators. Experience in dynamic covalent chemistry, interfacial reaction, and skills in membrane characterizations are important for the project.

The project ERGODIC, proposes and demonstrates a novel system for integrated passenger and goods transport, consisting of flexible public transport with modular autonomous vehicles and last-mile travel/delivery service with active micromobility. Modular vehicles could flexibly change capacity by adjusting the number of connected and segregated cabins that carry either passengers or goods. The proposed system is compatible with current infrastructure, technically ready, and has great potential to reduce the use of or even replace private vehicles with comparable services. We formulate the following tasks, that are associated with the Postdoc’s research:

1. Modular fleet system design and optimization

Buildings constitute a large part of the energy system and heat constitutes a large part of building’s energy needs. Building’s heating demand is thus central to creating smart integrated solutions. The electricity system is characterized by an increasing share of intermittent power. With the flexibility the heating system can offer the electricity system, buildings in cities can contribute to stabilizing the electricity system and thus to a greater proportion of renewable electricity being managed. This project, with the help of energy system modelling, will analyze how urban buildings can offer the electricity system flexibility in smart ways.

This project aims to develop a supramolecular receptor to sequester excess histamine, offering a novel therapeutic pathway for inflammation treatment. In this WWSC project, our goal is to discover enzymes that can be used for tailoring and functionalization of wood polymers and wood-derived molecules. By applying characterization methodology of both the structure and the chemistry of the wood-derived streams, we can both identify how the enzyme act on the wood and understand their application potential. The overall aim is to identify glycosyl transferases (GTs) that can act on wood polymers and wood-derived molecules. The starting point will be to discover enzymes from the collection of filamentous fungi the lab has access to from studies of biodiversity in South East Asia. Identified enzymes will be carefully characterized and applied for functionalization.
