We’re seeking an ambitious and self-motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in cellular and molecular biology, preferably in the context of mammalian development, and/or pregnancy. Expertise in epigenomic profiling techniques and associated bioinformatics would be highly advantageous. Experience with organoid culture and manipulation would also be valued but not essential.

Applications are invited for a fully funded position at the Research Associate level within the Centre for Advanced Robotics (ARQ), School of Engineering and Material Sciences at Queen Mary University of London. The project is funded by NERC, under the supervision of Dr. Ketao Zhang and Dr. Paul Balcombe. The project will investigate environmental monitoring approaches with multiple aerial robots.

The post holder will be responsible for research activities and the development of multi-agent aerial robotic systems, as well as working closely with project collaborators. You will perform research and development in aerial robotics, specialising in developing smart morphing structures and sensor integration of aerial robotic systems as well as developing appropriate control algorithms to navigate multiple aerial robots in dynamic environments.

Which labour regimes in manufacturing processes sustain solar panel production? How do informal energy markets work? What are the social and environmental challenges raised by end-of-life photovoltaic modules? How can this analysis reveal new ways to provide clean and affordable energy?

We are extending our research team with 3 ERC postdoctoral research associates (for 36 months) interested in joining the 5-year research project Illicit Labour, funded by a European Research Council Starting Grant. The project, coordinated by Dr Carlo Inverardi-Ferri (PI), involves an international consortium comprising Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). It pioneers a study of the linkages between climate change mitigation and illicit economies and the resulting implications for ecological governance. The project investigates global photovoltaic industry production networks to reveal the dark sides of the green energy sector in different geographical sites (China, Ghana, and India) and to advance new perspectives on risk, vulnerability, and mitigation, considering the interplay between the green energy sector and the illicit economy. 

The post-holders will play a central role in the project. They will conduct research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and in collaboration with an initial team of three PhD students. Key responsibilities include undertaking literature reviews, international fieldwork, and contributing to papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Beyond contributing to the research objectives of the project, the post-holders are expected to participate in the intellectual life of the School of Geography, particularly within the research theme Just Worlds, the Centre on Labour, Sustainability and Global Production (CLaSP), and the wider academic community at Queen Mary University of London.

The William Harvey Research Institute seeks researchers in Data Science, Statistical Genetics, and AI for Precision Cardiovascular Genomic Medicine. The focus is on enhancing CV disease diagnosis, prevention, and personalized therapy through deep phenotyping, polygenic risk scores, and molecular signatures. Researchers will collaborate with global experts to analyze diverse data from various sources, while AI specialists will develop tools for cardiovascular research under the Horizon Europe NextGen programme, aiming to create algorithms for CV disease prediction using multimodal patient data.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD degree in molecular/cell biology, or a related biological sciences discipline, with good experience in molecular cell biology and vascular biology. Excellent skills and rich experience in animal handling and various animal models of cardiovascular diseases (such as vessel injury-induced neointimal formation, arterial ligation, vascular grafting, cardiac injury, cell injection/transplantation, and/or bone marrow transplantation model, etc.) are essential. Good experiences in stem cell biology including induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell generation and differentiation, somatic cell direct conversion/trans-differentiation into vascular cells, isolation/characterization of different type of adult stem/progenitor cells from various tissues/organs, RNA sequencing, and/or bioinformatics, are also desirable.

The main aim of this post is to identify and investigate novel genetic causes of hypopituitarism. The candidate will work with both human-derived material, mice models, and cell lines. The post-holder will participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, departmental research meetings, and co-supervise students. They will also present data at high-profile international and national meetings. The post-holder will be supported by a bioinformatician and a research nurse, other groups in the Centre for Endocrinology, and external collaborators. Therefore, the candidate should be able to work as part of a team.

The postholder will coordinate the project’s clinical, administrative and laboratory activities. Duties include the recruitment of patients and family members, and care and monitoring of patients and patient data during the studies. The postholder will ensure the project’s clinical, administrative and laboratory aims are achieved while maintaining standards of care and monitoring of patients, family members and their data. The postholder will contribute to the research output of the department.

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our team, working in the area of biomechanics. The successful candidate will create numerical models of biomechanical structures and validate them through experimental work. They will write and publish research papers, contribute to research proposals and liaise with medical partners. The role involves working closely with team members with different research expertise, and also supervising current PhD students in the group.
