(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoc Position on Optical Atomic Clocks

You will work on two projects. You and the QDNL team will design and build a highly reliable optical lattice clock, based on our AQuRA project. With our partners from VSL and VU, we will distribute the frequency reference of this clock through fibre links across the Netherlands and ultimately Europe. In parallel, you and the QDNL team will create continuously operating optical clocks (a superradiant clock and a zero-deadtime, multi-ensemble clock). Such a clock should ultimately be able to average down to a precision of 10^-18 in minutes instead of the hours needed by todays clocks. This benefit will unlock new possibilities from fundamental science to society.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoc in Modeling of Seasonal Host-parasite Dynamics

Are you an expert in mathematical modeling of population dynamics and/or infectious diseases? Are you experienced with using compartment models (ordinary differential equations, ODEs), such as SEIR models, to understand how spatial and environmental factors impact host populations and/or parasite outcomes? Do you enjoy working in interdisciplinary settings that utilize ecological approaches to tackle questions of important public health outcomes? Do you have a strong inclination for leadership and community building?The Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) is looking for a highly motivated researcher with strong mathematical modeling training to develop population models (ODE) investigating the understudied role of seasonal dormancy on disease outcomes.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoctoral Position in Catalysis Engineering

As part of this project, you will research on the feasibility of producing sustainable fuels from CO2. You will synthesise catalysts, characterize them and will test them in appropriate reactors available in the group. Although project involves a combination of multiple technologies, the liquefaction of biomass would be a particularly desired direction of research. You should also be willing to maintain and troubleshoot the equipment as much as possible. Since the project is coordinated by the group, the person is also expected to contribute to the coordination of the project.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoctoral Position in Energy Systems Modelling of Hydrogen

Reducing CO₂ emissions to meet the Paris Agreement goals is driving the global energy transition, with hydrogen emerging as a key energy carrier. Its future role—whether produced locally or at large scales—remains uncertain. This Postdoc research at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) uses advanced energy systems modeling to assess hydrogen’s potential, analyzing its production, transport, storage, and consumption, while connecting with studies on public acceptance and risk perception.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc  summary/title:–Postdoc in Conquering Therapy Resistance in Multiple Myeloma using Advanced Computational Tools

You will

  • develop a molecular pathway model in the form of (stochastic) differential equations, that is specific for drug-sensitive and drug-resistant MM cells. As a starting point we will use the existing open-source pan-cancer stochastic mechanistic model (SPARCED) for cell proliferation and death signaling;
  • identify novel treatment schemes for MM, you will develop an evolutionary game theory model that describes eco-evolutionary dynamics of resistant and sensitive MM cells;
  • collaborate closely with the Guikema group, who will carry out the experimental component of the project to parameterize your models and validate your findings;
  • also work with the Stankova’s group in TU Delft on the development of the game-theoretic models and optimize their treatment;
  • publish your results in international journals and present at leading conferences.
