Postdoc summary/title:– Postdoctoral position in functional biomaterials and clinical translation
Applications are sought for a postdoctoral fellow position in Putnam Lab at Cornell University. The position is joint between the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering and the Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The successful applicant will lead and support research projects focused on the design and synthesis of functional biomaterials. One key attribute for the position is that the postdoctoral fellow will be immersed in the process through which functional biomaterials are developed and translated into the clinic (i.e., start-up companies, scale-up synthesis, process validation, biocompatibility analysis, FDA regulations, financing models, IP portfolio design, etc.)
The successful applicant will play a central role in the interactions among different labs and colleges. Applicants are not expected to have expertise in entrepreneurship, but do need to have a strong interest in learning entrepreneurship skills and methods. This will be a one-year appointment, with annual extension possible based on satisfactory performance.
Required Qualifications: • PhD or equivalent degree in polymer/organic chemistry completed by the start of the position • A willingness/ability to work with animal models of disease • Strong writing skills • Desire and ability to author manuscripts and grant proposals in high-quality English • Strong desire to impact human health through the commercialization of functional biomaterials

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:– Postdoctoral Associate – CALS Division of Nutritional Sciences
A Postdoctoral Associate position is open in the Johnson lab to study how dietary intake of bioactive lipids and production of bioactive lipids from the gut microbiome can influence mammalian phenotypes. The Johnson lab uses genetic, genomic, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) based-lipidomic approaches to understand lipid-dependent host-microbe interactions. More information about research in the Johnson Lab can be found at
www.johnsonlab.nutrition.cornell.edu.
The successful candidate will be expected to run and maintain the in-lab LC-MS in order to conduct research investigating how bioactive lipids influence host-microbe interactions in human tissue culture, mouse, and human systems. The initial appointment is for a year with the opportunity to extend based on performance.

Postdoc summary/title:– Postdoctoral Associate – CVM – Microbiology & Immunology, Leifer Lab
A postdoctoral position is available in the Leifer Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Cornell University. The lab focuses on innate immune receptor signaling and regulation using a variety of techniques from signal pathway analysis in primary human and mouse macrophages and dendritic cells, and cell lines, to whole animal models of disease. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and their crosstalk with other signaling pathways is a current area of ongoing research.
We seek highly motivated candidates with experience in cell biology, signaling, innate immune receptors, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and lab animal handling experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must and bioinformatics experience analyzing -omics data is a plus. This individual will work on currently funded projects as well as carve out their own project in TLR signaling regulation. There are also multiple opportunities to engage in ongoing collaborative projects.
Cornell University is located in Ithaca New York. Diversity and Inclusion are a part of Cornell University’s heritage. Cornell is a recognized employer and educator valuing AA/EEO, Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities. The Leifer Lab is housed at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell where there are opportunities to perform both human and veterinary research. Find out more at our website Leiferlab.com.

About Cornell University, New York, United States – Official Website
Cornell University is a private, statutory, Ivy League and land-grant research university in Ithaca, New York. Founded in 1865 by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White, the university was intended to teach and make contributions in all fields of knowledge—from the classics to the sciences, and from the theoretical to the applied. These ideals, unconventional for the time, are captured in Cornell’s founding principle, a popular 1868 quotation from founder Ezra Cornell: “I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study.”
The university is broadly organized into seven undergraduate colleges and seven graduate divisions at its main Ithaca campus, with each college and division defining its specific admission standards and academic programs in near autonomy. The university also administers two satellite medical campuses, one in New York City and one in Education City, Qatar.
