(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:– Postdoc Position: Social Norms in Medieval Canon Law
This three-year position is part of the project ‘The Social Life of Early Medieval Normative Texts’ (SOLEMNE), funded through the ERC Consolidator Grant awarded to Dr Sven Meeder. A fuller description of the project can be found here. The SOLEMNE project aims to describe and contextualise the spread of social norms as articulated in specific combinations of canons in a bottom-up approach starting from the vast corpus of manuscript witnesses of canonical collections in every shape and form (4th-12th centuries). A dynamic database forms an essential element of the project, combined with an innovative digital tool that allows for queries of shared content in canonical collections or manuscripts and of levels of affinity based on combinations of authoritative statements.
Your postdoctoral research will contribute to the main objectives of the project. Studying the rich textual source material and its reception in different social and cultural contexts, you will investigate the ways in which developing social norms and values are manifested in the changes of particularly unstable texts, characterised by numerous ‘recensions’, variant readings and ‘contaminations’.
You will use the project’s dataset, as well as contribute research results to it. Your findings should be presented in at least three major articles in international scientific journals, and you are also expected to contribute to wider communication of the project’s results. Furthermore, you will cooperate closely with all other subprojects and participate in the project’s programme of meetings as a speaker and organiser.
Deadline : 10 November 2024

You will be working closely with various groups in this consortium in the Netherlands and you will be applying state-of-the-art mass spectrometry-based proteomics techniques, including thermal proteome profiling, to determine the on- and off-targets of existing and newly developed cancer drugs in cancer cell lines and organoid models. You will also have the opportunity to develop additional research lines and/or ideas that align with this topic.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:– Postdoc Position at the Donders Centre for Cognition: Computational Neuroscience of Social Decision Making
The Donders Centre for Cognition is seeking a talented postdoctoral researcher to lead a new research line into moral decision making. The project aims to develop a Bayesian model of moral decision making to test various hypotheses about the interactions between moral and other factors in social decision making. The model will be tested in a series of behavioural and neuroimaging experiments and will feed into a PhD project that you will co-supervise.
The project is funded by the NWO grant entitled ‘Morality as a hyperparameter in decision making: A new approach to studying an age-old problem’. The project will benefit from ongoing collaborations with the University of Oxford (Rogier Mars), the University of Cambridge (Francesco Poli), the Dutch Institute for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychology (Maaike Kempes), and the University of Copenhagen (James Blair).
You will be working in a multidisciplinary research group to develop a novel experimental paradigm and computational model to study the behavioural and neural basis of moral decision making. You will be responsible for developing and piloting the experimental task, acquiring and analysing data, and reporting the data at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications. You will interact with other researchers and collect data from healthy adult volunteers. You will develop a computational model of moral decision making, based on existing models in the lab. You will work in conjunction with other researchers in the lab and through international collaboration.
