Postdoc summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental NonTarget Mass Spectrometry
A postdoctoral fellow is being recruited to lead research on the nontarget chemical analysis of air in the INQUIRE project. We will conduct research and evaluate innovative actions to detect and reduce hazardous chemical determinants in homes, with a focus on exposure of infants and young children in over 200 homes distributed across 8 countries. This major Horizon Europe project includes a broad consortium from 20 global universities and research organizations. The overall aim of INQUIRE is to protect citizen health by providing knowledge, tools, and measures that substantially improve indoor air quality.

Postdoc summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow in Materials Chemistry with Microbial Systems
We are offering a Postdoctoral Fellow position within the LignoLife project, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation through the Wallenberg Academy Fellows program. This project focuses on developing innovative materials by combining living microbial cells with lignin. You will be responsible for developing methodologies and conducting microbial cultivations to identify suitable microbial strains for various applications. As part of a collaborative team, you will also engage with materials chemistry and explore the practical applications of these hybrid living materials.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow in The Astrophysics of the First Galaxies (4)
The positions will be associated with either observational or numerical/computational studies of the universe during the reionization era. We seek to hire postdoctoral fellows within the newly established KAW research program of high scientific impact, on Reionization at the astronomy department of Stockholm University and Oskar Klein Centre. The selected candidates will research physical properties of galaxies, star and black hole formation and their contribution to reionization from observation and numerical perspectives.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow in Chromatin organization in differentiation and cancer
The expression of A-type lamins is often lost or downregulated in different types of cancers leading to disorganized chromatin and impaired differentiation contributing to aggressiveness of tumors and poor prognosis. We have developed a novel imaging method FRIC (Fluorescence Ratiometric Imaging of Chromatin) (Bergqvist et al., 2019 Nucleic Acids Res. 47:e49) to monitor chromatin reorganization during differentiation. We recently implemented FRIC for high content screening (HCS-FRIC). We will use HCS-FRIC for systematic screening of siRNA libraries to identify nuclear membrane proteins involved in lamin A/C dependent tethering of chromatin in the nuclear periphery during differentiation of neuroblastoma cells. We will investigate the role of the positively scoring proteins in the functional organization of differentiation-dependent chromatin tethering and its impact on epigenetic spatial gene positioning in the nucleus. The program contributes to the understanding of cancer forms with distorted chromatin organization and disrupted differentiation programs and will provide new and better markers for cancer diagnosis.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow in hydroclimatic ecosystem services of wetlands
The candidate will work on the project Disclosing the Overlooked Wetlandscape Ecosystem Services (DOWES), funded by the Water4All 2023 Joint Transnational Call on Aquatic Ecosystem Services. The main objective of DOWES is to resolve the interlinkages between water availability in wetlandscapes, their responses and stressors, and the provision of ecosystem services within and beyond their area of influence through synthesis across multiple wetlandscapes. While wetlands are ecosystems with permanent or temporary, static or flowing waters, wetlandscapes are systems of wetlands that are hydraulically, hydrologically, and ecologically connected. A wetlandscape can comprise large regions with different wetland bodies connected by groundwater or surface flows and, in turn, include more ecosystems, land covers, and communities existing in the landscape.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow in Near Field Cosmology
We are searching for a candidate to conduct original research in the area of near field cosmology. Areas of interest include dwarf galaxies formation and evolution, the nature of dark matter and alternatives to CDM, the Milky Way and Local Group of galaxies. We are mainly looking for candidates with interests in developing and/or running and analysis of cosmological simulations.
The candidate will join the newly established research group of Azadeh Fattahi at Stockholm university. She/he is encouraged to collaborate with researchers at Stockholm, as well as internationally with scientists at the Virgo Consortium for cosmological simulations. The position is funded by a Wallenberg Academy Fellowship awarded to Azadeh Fattahi.

Postdoc summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellowship in Physics with Modeling of Water
We seek a postdoctoral fellow to contribute to the work in the group of Prof. Lars G.M. Pettersson on aspects of modeling of water. This includes all or a selection of molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations, advanced quantum chemical x-ray spectroscopy calculations, simulation of EXAFS signals, wave function treatment of protons and development of real-time TDDFT propagation techniques.
The funding comes from an ERC Advanced Grant (Gases in Water – GAS-WAT) with the goal to explore possible consequences of a two-state picture of liquid water in terms of chemistry and aquatic life. Specifically, we aim to determine the local structures associated with structural fluctuations in ambient water and how they may be involved in solvation of gases, specifically O2, and how evolution may have led to a change in structure of water around fish gills to assist extracting the oxygen. To this end we combine MD and MC simulations with target structures based on analysis of computed XAS and XES spectra, investigate effects of proton spin-coupling and proton wave function descriptions, as well as measure and analyze EXAFS of dissolved gases and participate in x-ray free-electron laser experiments targeting different aspects of water.

Postdoc summary/title:–Postdoctoral Fellow in Financial Risk Analysis
This postdoctoral Fellow will be working as part of the project “Financial risks of climate impacts on seafood production”. This is a three-year project (December 2023 – December 2026) led by the Stockholm Resilience Centre in partnership with the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions and the University of California – Santa Cruz.
The purpose of the project is to better understand the economic and financial risks to seafood businesses from climate impacts on marine fish populations and co-design actionable strategies companies can take to reduce these risks, including climate adaption strategies in fisheries management. To achieve these goals, we will engage with seafood companies, including members of the science-industry collaboration Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship, or SeaBOS (www.seabos.org).
The main focus of this postdoctoral fellowship will be to develop and apply a methodology to map and specify the financial risks of climate change impacts on industrial fisheries. We are looking for a researcher with strong financial modelling skills and experience quantifying risk in financial terms, to help bridge between ecological impacts and risk to businesses. The ultimate goal of the project is to create publicly-available toolkits for industry to integrate climate resilience into their business operations and supply chains.
