Postdoc  summary/title:– Postdocs (2) in N2 activation into NH3 using Thermal or Electrochemical approaches at SurfCat – DTU Physics

We have a successful record of activating molecular nitrogen both through thermal and electrochemically. Thermally we have found new classes of promotion based on spin quenching on Cobalt and Nickel doing surface science experiment. We are now aiming at realising high area materials capitalizing on this insight. Electrochemically we have been focussing on the Li mediated process.  Nevertheless, the potential requirement by using Li is very high and we are therefore looking for alternative metals and processes for activating molecular Nitrogen. The work will for both positions be focussed on synthesis, test, and characterization.

Surfcat is known for its extensive use of surface science methods and also includes the most advanced methods of microscopy though its collaboration with VISION. Visiting large scale facilities such as synchrotrons for EXAFS and High-pressure XPS measurements may also be envisioned for most promising catalysts. The applicant must clearly indicate which of the two positions is applied for.
